Late Victorian

Cameo Pendant, Brooch, Muse

The lady in this cameo is one of the muses, Erato, the muse of love poetry. Her signs are the lyre and the crown of roses.

Cameo and Pinchbeck Locket

This appears to be a sardonyx cameo mounted in a pinchbeck locket. Red and green glass artificial gems enliven the front. The back is elaborately engraved.

Cameo Earrings, Bust

These hardstone cameo earrings have screw clasp backs. There is no sign that these are late additions, so the earrings must date late in the 19th century. Only wire loop mounts were used in the Early and Mid-Victorian periods.

Intaglio Onyx Brooch

The central stone is carved in intaglio with the bust of a woman. A profusion of applied ornaments build up the very dimensional frame.
